Art has always been a pathway creating unity between the world and myself. As an art illusionist I paint with fabric, although my process uses no paint.
Subsequently, several years after graduation, I became pregnant and was advised that the fumes would be harmful. Growing up in a creative environment I was used to seeing materials utilized in many different capacities. I began to experiment with fabric as a medium and it became my primary resource. The images are made from multi-sized hand cut fabric swatches glued to canvas utilizing UV coatings for protection. Over time I rarely went back to paint.
Fabric speaks to me. Through the texture, designs and colored material I create images inspired by urban and natural forms. I see the fabric as though it were life, the many textures within us, and the many colors of our personality. I’m the detective, or creator of the universe, searching for pieces of the puzzle, which fit together forming a whole. If one piece is out of place the puzzle can’t be solved. However, in art, the search is as continual as in life. Always searching to find simplicity, in order to solve the jigsaw of one's personal perspective.
